Rick Bell, MPA, HLM, APPO, CR. Photog is a Toronto commercial, industrial, aerial, corporate, public relations and event photography. His career as a professional began in 1969 as a press stringer for the Toronto Telegram daily newspaper.
Next was Toronto Life Magazine as a junior photographer, soon graduating to more loftier assignments within the magazine. In 1971, the first year Ontario place opened, he was the corporate photographer living on the site in an executive trailer shooting 7 days a week 14 hours a day.
Rick introduction to corporate photography was as Gulf Oil Canada’s corporate photographer for 7 years.
He was the only photographer allowed on the red carpet for over 10 years at Canada’s Walk of Fame and the Toronto International Film Festival. He has photographed hundreds of notable national and international celebrities from sports, entertainment, culture and politics.
Rick is currently an international accredited image salon judge. He has received both national and international recognition for his work in the photographic field where several of these images have been retained in the permanent loan collection, at the National Archives of Canada. Rick has been the recipient of every award that the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) has to present.
In 1985, Rick was Co-chair of the Canadian Creators Coalition. Along with members of CAPIC, he persisted and updated copyright legislation that was finally passed in 1996. He was President of the Professional Photographers of Ontario (PPO), as well as National Accreditation Chairman for Canada. He has been a guest lecturer in Canada, United States and China.
His career clients included Power Companies, Banks, Law Firms, Healthcare, Home Builders, Pharmaceuticals, Federal and Provincial departments, College and University institutions.
Rick has been Advisory Board chair at Humber, Confederation and Georgian colleges.
Rick was the Creator and Executive Director for 10 years at the Niagara School of Imaging, at Brock University, where professional photographers, from Canada, United States and Europe, honed their photographic skills.
