Pat LaCroix began his photography journey at the age of 25, after touring North America for three years as a singer with the Canadian folk trio The Halifax Three, alongside Denny Doherty, later of The Mamas and the Papas. While on the road, he developed an interest in photography and spent the next few years self-teaching, shooting everything from weddings to promo photos for rock bands, strippers, and female impersonators.

By the mid-1970s, Pat had broken into advertising photography, launching a 45-year career shooting ads for a plethora of Fortune 500 companies. A broad range of subjects came before his camera—everything from automobiles and yachts to beer, wine, ice cream, and people. In 1978, he and his wife Patti founded The Brant Group, a multi-photographer company managed by Patti.

Over his career, Pat received more than 50 national and international awards, including a lifetime achievement award from CAPIC, of which he is a founding member. His series of six décor posters sold tens of thousands globally, and his art photography has been exhibited at art galleries in Zurich, Tokyo, and Toronto. He has lectured extensively across Canada and the U.S.

After retiring from assignments, Pat continued shooting stock for Getty Images and, in 2019, released Toronto Jazz Treasures, an award-winning coffee table book featuring portraits of 101 of Toronto’s world-class jazz musicians.
