François is working and living in Montréal. His main work is photographing look-alikes, all over the world and this for the last 25 years. His photos from his I’m not a look-alike! project have been featured in more than1 500 media outlets throughout the world, including the NYTimes, The Guardian, Toronto Star, Die Zeit, La Repubblica, National Geographic, Wired, Univision, ABC, NBC, CBC, Tik-Tok, Instagram (135K), etc. For the exibition François proposes an image from his project of Agnes Loonstra and Ester Scholter, two Dutch women who are not related at all but bear a striking resemblance. Here is their story, told by Agnes:
“I’m a musician and illustrator, born in Holland. One day while traveling by train, a man started talking to me about all sorts of strange topics I knew nothing about. After a while, he realized he was mistaking me for his ex-girlfriend, Ester. I contacted her on Facebook and we became friends. Not only do we look alike (which is surprising because our faces are so distinctive we each thought we were unique), but our personalities are similar too. Sometimes I have to insist to convince people I’m not Ester. She was born in Zevenaar, Holland and works as an education director.” – Agnes
