Émilie Léger is a visual artist whose work lies at the intersection of light, memory, and ecology. Deeply rooted in alternative photographic processes such as cyanotype, anthotype, chlorophyll printing, and lumen prints, her practice reveals a sensory dialogue between nature, material, and time. She often works without a camera, using plants, light-sensitive emulsions, and historical methods to explore notions of impermanence, presence, and organic memory.
Diagnosed with autism in adulthood, Léger integrates neurodivergent perception and somatic awareness into her creative process. Her works unfold slowly, through rituals of collection, exposure, and quiet observation — inviting viewers to pause and “see differently.”
Also active as an arts educator and facilitator, she promotes inclusive and environmentally engaged approaches to image-making. She regularly offers workshops in schools, mental health centers, and cultural organizations, using photography as a bridge for expression, connection, and ecological reflection.
Her work has been exhibited across Canada, the United States, and Europe, including shows at Praxis Gallery (Minneapolis), PH21 Gallery (Budapest), and in publications such as PhotoED, ARTDOC, and Alternative Photography. She is a professional member of RAAV, PPOC, CAPIC, and AlternativePhotography.com
